Terms of Service
Last updated: April 21, 2026
1. What LedgerBot is
LedgerBot ("the Service", "we", "us") is a Discord bot and companion web application that lets Discord server administrators and members track customizable "resources", manage a pool of narrative problems, and generate roleplay prompts. The bot is installed into a Discord server ("guild") by a server administrator and configured via the web app at this site.
2. Who can use it
You may use the Service if:
- You have a Discord account in good standing and are old enough to use Discord per Discord's own Terms of Service (minimum age varies by region, typically 13+).
- You are authorized to install bots and configure the relevant Discord server, or you are a member of a server where a server admin has installed LedgerBot.
You agree to comply with Discord's Terms of Service. Misuse of LedgerBot that violates Discord's terms may result in your access being revoked.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use LedgerBot to harass, abuse, dox, or harm other users.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, spam, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to store illegal content, personal data you have no right to store, or anything that violates Discord's Community Guidelines.
- Abuse rate limits or attempt to circumvent permission checks.
Server administrators are responsible for content added to their guild's configuration (resource names, descriptions, prompt templates, etc.) and for designating which Discord roles can adjust resources.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of any content you enter into LedgerBot (resource names, descriptions, prompt templates, problem descriptions, personal resource data, etc.). By using the Service you grant us a non-exclusive license to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you and your guild.
5. Service availability
LedgerBot is provided "as-is" and "as-available" with no guarantees of uptime, data retention, or feature stability. We may:
- Take the Service offline for maintenance, fixes, or at our discretion.
- Change, add, or remove features.
- Discontinue the Service entirely with reasonable notice when practical.
You are strongly encouraged not to rely on LedgerBot as the sole source of truth for anything you care about long-term. Back up important configuration by exporting it from the web app when that feature is available.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE OPERATORS OF LEDGERBOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
8. Termination
You can stop using LedgerBot at any time by:
- Removing the bot from your Discord server (server admins), or
- Logging out and asking us to delete your account data (see the Privacy Policy).
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if you violate these terms or if continued access poses a risk to other users or the Service itself.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the web app or a note on the home page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
